Welcome Back

Welcome Back
The first meeting of the 2019-2020 season kicks off on Monday, September 16th with social at 6:30, business meeting beginning at 7:00.  Our program this month is "What did you do this summer - Show and Tell"  All are welcome, join us, bring your show and tell.

  • September 16, 2019 - Welcome Back - Show what you did over the summer break.
  • October 21, 2019 -Fit for Sweaters (Plus) and will include Silhouette, Style, Measurements, and Alteration Techniques.

Tablet / Card Weaving - Presented by:

Tablet Weaving (often card weaving in the United States) is a weaving technique where tablets or cards are used to create the shed through which the weft is passed. Join us on Monday as Karen Burke demonstrates Tablet / Card weaving.  

We meet at the St. Clair Shores Adult Education Facility 23055 Masonic Saint Clair Shores on the Third Monday of the month. 6:30 PM Social 7:00 PM Business Meeting 7:30 PM Program

Business Meeting:
We will discuss the need for volunteers (assistant treasurer) There will be handouts for those interested in participating in the placemat competition at the MLH conference as well as brochures of the conference.

Show and Tell - show us what you have been working on.

Absorbency of fibers:  Come and discuss the properties of fibers that absorb and those that don't and why.  What fibers to choose to make certain projects, like towels, scarves, etc.

REMINDER:  We will go back to our regular meeting schedule beginning in March.

Stitching Stories: Fabric Art through the Ages

Quilts, samplers, embroidery, and appliqué have been used to tell meaningful stories, some historical, some religious, some personal ,and many not only beautiful but deeply moving. We'll explore a range of stitched examples from the Bayeux Tapestry, ritual textiles, and samplers to the Fabric of Survival and other stories in 20th century samplers, quilts and embroideries.
