November Guild Meeting

November Guild Meeting

Small Looms presented by Karen Burke

November 20, 2023

7:00 PM EST

This month we will hear from Karen Burke, a long standing member of the Eastside Handweavers, about small looms.  She will cover rigid heddle, backstrap and inkle looms.  Why does she like them?  How does she use them?  Maybe you need some too!   Join our zoom meeting to see the variety there is and see which one you would like to try!  She even has one that fits in her pocket!

Weaving Weft-Face Rugs

with Nancy Crampton

September 14 -16, 2023

9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day

Hosted by: Eastside Handweavers Guild

Lakeshore Presbyterian Church - 11 Mile Rd and Jefferson

Saint Clair Shores, Michigan

Participants will come to the workshop with looms (either table or shaft looms) threaded in a straight draw (1,2,3,4) with carpet warp. A heavy-duty rug loom is NOT necessary. Samples (table runners or placemats) will be woven in plain weave, straight twill, broken twill, and krokbradt. Additional looms, threaded in overshot and rosepath, will be available for weaving samples, too.

Patterns will be drawn on paper and then woven.

Discussions will include choice of yarns for warp and weft, how to get perfect edges, finishing techniques, and how to plan designs specifically for rugs.

There are 15 spots available. Fee for this 3-day workshop, $1250, will be divided by the number of participants who sign up. There will be an additional $15 materials fee per enrollee that includes all-wool weft yarns and handouts.

Sign up today by emailing:  eastsidehandweavers@gmail.com

NOTE: There are many motels in the Saint Clair Shores/Roseville area including Holiday Inn Express, Super8 by Windham, Days Inn and Suites, Baymont, Victory Inn and others.
