"Altered Surfaces" Workshop

Members of the Eastside Handweavers attended a workshop by Joanne Bachelder this past weekend on "Altered Surfaces."  This was a great workshop.  Everyone had a great time.

In this workshop we learned to weave images without using tapestry techniques, or pickup sticks and double weave. We played with the weave structure pick by pick, selvedge to selvedge, to achieve what we wanted to see. Any weaver on as few as four harnesses can use this technique to create anything from scarves to rugs. Nancy Searles first developed it in the book “Free Form Design”.
